Arizona Athletics Announces Native American Heritage Month Campaign

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Athletics is proud to celebrate Native American Heritage Month each year, as it gives us an opportunity to share the incredible stories of some of our amazing student-athletes both past and present.

This year will be no different as we have plans to highlight these stories over the course of the month and introduce a new Native American Heritage logo, produced by the university.

Starting today and running through the end of November, we will highlight the inspiring stories of current student-athletes as they discuss their background and why Native American Heritage Month is important to them.

We will also take a look back at some traditions and activities that we have created at our annual Native American Heritage Day women's basketball game, including special halftime performances, a presentation of tribal flags and recognition of our Native American Alumni scholarship recipients.

Arizona Athletics will also take to social media throughout the month to highlight our stories as we continue to emphasize our core values on diversity and inclusion from the strategic plan. The A-Club will also focus on letterwinners of Native American descent as they reflect on their time at the University of Arizona and the importance of this month. More information can be found on here.

Land Acknowledgment
The University of Arizona sits on the original homelands of Indigenous Peoples who have stewarded this Land since time immemorial. Aligning with the university's core value of a diverse and inclusive community, it is an institutional responsibility to recognize and acknowledge the People, culture and history that make up the Wildcat community. At the institutional level, it is important to be proactive in broadening awareness throughout campus to ensure our students feel represented and valued.
