TUCSON, Ariz. --Â The Arizona Wildcats (7-3) hammered out 15 hits and drew 10 walks en route to a 19-10 victory over the Rhode Island Rams (4-5) on Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field.
Right fielder
Ryan Holgate led the way on offense, finishing the night 2-for-3 with one run scored, one double, five RBI, and two walks. Driving in five runs tied his career high, originally set on the opening weekend of last season against UMass Lowell.
Matthew Dyer (3),
Branden Boissiere (3), and
Austin Wells (2) all also drove in multiple runs.
The Wildcats put up two runs in the bottom of the first and tossed up a crooked number in the second, rocketing Arizona out to an early 10-1 lead. After allowing six runs in the top of the fifth, the offense responded with six runs over the final four frames to put the game back out of reach and create the final margin of 19-10.
Arizona starting pitcher
Quinn Flanagan did not factor into the decision after working 4.2 innings and allowing one earned run while striking out five.
