Wildcats Travel to Albuquerque for NCAA Indoor Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track and Field is headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday. Carlos Villarreal, Justice Summerset and Israel Oloyede will be making the trip for the Wildcats.
Alexa Porpaczy qualified for the high jump with a clearance of 1.80m (5-10.75), however she will not compete due to injury.
Villarreal will kick off competition with the men's mile semifinal on Friday at 4:20 p.m. MST. On Saturday, Summerset will compete in the high jump at 12:15 p.m. MST followed by Oloyede in the weight throw at 1:00 p.m. MST. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
At last year's NCAA Indoor Championships, Jordan Geist, Carlos Villarreal and Lillian Lowe earned first team All-America honors. Geist placed fifth in the shot put, Villarreal finished fourth in the mile and Lowe took seventh in the high jump.
Arizona last competed at the MPSF Championships where the men's team placed second in the conference and the women finished fourth. Porpaczy jumped 1.79m (5-10.5) to claim the MPSF high jump title. Oloyede took second in the weight throw with a mark of 22.02m (72-3). Summerset cleared 2.20m (7-2.50) to place second in the high jump. Villarreal finished eighth in the 3k with a time of 8:07.57.
