Harper Named Second-Team CoSIDA Academic All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A two-time All-American on the field, Arizona softball shortstop Jessie Harper has been identified as one of the top players in the nation in the classroom as well. Harper was named a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American on Thursday.

It marks Harper's first career CoSIDA Academic All-America honor after she was named first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District each of the last two years. 

Harper becomes Arizona's eighth Academic All-American, joining Tamara Statman (2019), K'Lee Arredondo (2010), Autumn Champion (2006), Wendy Allen (2004), Nancy Evans (1998), Leah O'Brien (1994, 1995, 1997) and Jenny Dalton (1995, 1996).

The Stevenson Ranch, California, native graduated this spring with a 3.74 GPA and a degree in sociology. She will begin her Master's program in Educational Leadership this fall while competing in her fifth year with the Wildcats.

Harper's academic awards are piling up like her athletic honors in her career. Harper is an Academic All-American, two-time Academic All-District honoree and has been a member of the Pac-12 All-Academic team every year she has been eligible.

Harper, a two-time All-American and three-time first-team all-Pac-12 performer, enters her redshirt senior season with 76 career home runs, tied for fifth most in Arizona history, seventh most in pac-12 history and 12th most in NCAA history.
