Tucson, ARIZ.-- The University of Arizona, much like most Universities around the country, had an unusual finish to the semester. Nevertheless, student-athletes continued to work hard to keep up with their studies and their physical activity.
Freshman Goalkeeper Hope Hisey gave some insight into how she stayed motivated through the end of the semester and how she keeps active while being away from school.
How did the remainder of the semester go for you?
"It was difficult to stay motivated, but working on my own time from home still allowed me to maintain my 4.0."
What kept you motivated in school? (during quarantine)
"I really wanted to maintain a 4.0 and continue to learn the information that's going to be valuable to me when I choose to apply my career to the outside world."
What kept you motivated to stay active? (during quarantine)
"My team is going to need the very best of me when we return, and I can only provide that if I'm as fit as I can be."
What are you doing now to stay in shape?
"I've had to get creative as far as lifting, so I had to find heavy things around the house to do compound exercises. You can always run outside so that hasn't been too different."
What are you doing now to stay busy? (any fun hobbies or activities)
"I've been doing summer school, going to the park and working on soccer, bike riding, I'm watching Netflix."
What are you most looking forward to for next season/semester?
"I'm looking forward to all the experiences I'm going to be able to have with my teammates again."
Have you learned anything about yourself since quarantine started?
"I learned I'm most grateful for my self-motivation."
What is the best thing to come out of quarantine?
"The best thing to come out of quarantine is the hundreds of thousands of lives mitigation efforts have saved."
Any good show or movie recommendations?
"Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder"
