TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball's 2020 signing class, which arrived on campus last month, has been tabbed as the No. 4 recruiting class in the country by
Baseball America. It is the Wildcats highest ranking in the
Baseball America poll in program history.
"We are honored to receive this ranking from Baseball America and are excited about the group of players we brought in," head coach
Jay Johnson said. "This is a group with high-level ability and character. I believe this class will mesh well with the returning players in the program to help us reach our potential in 2020 and beyond while helping our program function at an extremely high level. It is a balanced class in regards to the attributes they bring to the table and it gives us an opportunity to have a team that can be successful and win in different ways. We have players in this class who have the opportunity to make an immediate impact on our success and others that have tremendous long-term potential. It's a great time to be an Arizona Wildcat!"Â
Â
Arizona's No. 4 ranking marks a four spot jump from the No. 8 ranking that was handed down by
Baseball America just prior to the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft. The Wildcat's 4th-ranked incoming group is now the top mark in the Pac-12 Conference and the highest ranked class west of the Mississippi.Â
The Wildcats 2020 signing class includes two players who participated in the 2019
Perfect Game All-American Classic (Chase Davis, Daniel Susac), five players who were included among the
Baseball America Top 500 pre-draft prospect rankings (Davis, Susac, TJ Nichols, Jacob Berry, Chase Silseth), and two members of the
Perfect Game Top 100 rankings (Davis, Susac), among other distinguished prep and junior college players.
The members of the 2020 recruiting class arrived on campus in August and joined a talented group of returning players who finished the shortened 2020 season with a promising record of 10-5. The combination of a Top 5 recruiting class and a bevy of returning talent led
Baseball America to rank Arizona No. 12 in their "Never Too Early" Top 25 for the 2021 season.

UPDATE 9/18: The Wildcats 2020 signing class picked up a second No. 4 ranking from
Collegiate Baseball. They are the highest-ranked Pac-12 program in the
Collegiate Baseball Top 40, two spots ahead of No. 6 UCLA.
