Men's Tennis Starts Season With Three Ranked in Singles

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Men's Tennis team kicks off 2021 in the right way with three of it's members placing in the ITA Top 125 Preseason Rankings. Junior #50 Jonas Ziverts, senior #54 Filip Malbasic, and freshman #105 Gustaf Strom fill out the rankings for the Wildcats.

Ziverts and Malbasic are no strangers to the ITA Rankings as the placed within the Top 125 for most of the year. Ziverts finished the year ranked 55th and Malbasic went as high as 36th during the season while finishing 63rd in a Covid-shortened season. Both have boosted their rankings as the season begins anew and look to continue to rise as Arizona looks to pick up on the success their program started in the prior cancelled season. Returning senior Alejandro Reguant was also in teh ITA rankings for a time before dipping out again towards the cancellation, but looks to remain on the cusp as his final season gets underway.

Strom not only places in the Top 125 overall in singles, but is ranked as the second overall in the ITA Newcomer Ranking in the preseason. Strom is the highest ranking recruit in the tenure of Clancy Shields and it was recognized in these preseason rankings.
