Arizona Sends Four Athletes to Matador Qualifier

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track and Field is sending four athletes to Lubbock, Texas for the Matador Qualifier on Friday, hosted by Texas Tech. Competition is set to begin at 4:45 p.m. MST with Johnnie Blockburger and Umajesty Williams in the men's 400m.
Making the trip for the Wildcats will be Blockburger, Logan Hasher, Trevor Volpe and Williams. The group will compete as a 4x400m relay team as well as individually in the 400m and 200m sprints.

Last week, the Wildcats competed at the Texas Tech Shootout where they tallied four school records, five top-10 NCAA marks and times, five event wins and 11 PRs. Williams was the team's top finisher in the men's 200m with a time of 21.40. Blockburger clocked 21.45 followed by Volpe with a time of 21.72. Volpe also ran a PR in the 60m dash with a time of 6.94 in his first race of the season. The men's 4x400m relay team of Blockburger, Calvin Wilson, Volpe and Williams also clocked a season best time of 3:09.20 to place third.
