TUCSON, Ariz. — The No. 21 Arizona GymCats welcome the No. 19 Cal Golden Bears to the McKale Center this Saturday for another Top 25 matchup. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. MST with a free live stream available to view at ArizonaWildcats.com.

Arizona enters their third week of competition and have posted a pair of 195+ scores against Top 25 competition. The young GymCats showed improvement last week against UCLA while running out 20 routines from underclassmen.

Cal opened their season last week, defeating Air Force at home 195.75-188.95. Saturday's trip to Tucson will be their first Pac-12 Conference competition of the year.

POLL POSITION: With two weeks of competition in the books, the GymCats rank No. 21 in the country according to Road to Nationals. Arizona also ranks among the Top 25 programs in the nation on beam (11th), floor (22nd), and vault (23rd). Cal, currently ranked at No. 19, is the third Top 25 program the GymCats have competed against this year.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: Last weekend, while hosting UCLA, the GymCats had 20 of their 24 routines contributed by underclassmen. Arizona's entire beam lineup, consisting of Avery Stauffacher, Caroline Herry, Elena Deets, Mackenzie Barile, Jessica Castles, and Sirena Linton, featured underclassmen.

LAST TIME OUT: Arizona hosted UCLA last Sunday at the McKale Center and posted a final score of 195.075. The GymCats improved on their opening-week scores in both vault and floor, with scores of 48.975 and 49.175 in those events respectively.

COACHING STAFF: The 2021 Wildcats are led by third-year head coach John Court, third-year assistant coach Taylor Spears, and first-year assistant coach Peter Jansson. Following decades of coaching across multiple levels of gymnastics, former Wildcats assistant coach of five years, David McCreary, announced his retirement in early January.

STATE 48: The Wildcats 2021 roster features six student-athletes from the state of Arizona, including three local products hailing from Tucson: freshman Madison Courney, junior MacKinzie Kane, and freshman Halli Mayberry. The six Arizonans represent nearly a third of the Wildcats roster.

G-PAC: In January, a group of Pac-12 gymnasts announced the formation of G-PAC, or "Gymnasts for Peace, Action, and Change." G-PAC facilitates an environment where diversity and inclusion is both welcomed and encouraged. The Wildcats are represented on the student-athlete driven organization by sophomore Sirena Linton.
