GymCats Finish Strong to Post 194.875

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona GymCats closed out Saturday's meet against Cal with back-to-back 49+ scores on beam and floor, pushing them to a final team score of 194.875. The Golden Bears took home the win with a final score of 196.075.

Arizona's 49.150 on beam tied their season-high in the event, while their 49.050 on floor was their second straight 49+ in the event. Underclassmen again led the way for the GymCats, contributing 21 of the team's 24 routines.

Gymnast of the Meet — Libby Orman

Sophomore Libby Orman earned her first Gymnast of the Meet honors this year after tying her career-high with a 9.850 on floor and performing her first collegiate vault. Orman's 9.850 on floor was the second-best score of the meet in the event.

Vault

Arizona opened with a 48.375 on vault, led by a 9.775 from Malia Hargrove. Orman's 9.500 to anchor the rotation marked her first collegiate attempt at the vault.

Uneven Bars

MacKinzie Kane paced the GymCats in the second rotation, posting a 9.775 from the second spot in the lineup — she finished fourth on the bars. Arizona finished the bars with a 48.300 as a team.

Balance Beam

The GymCats came alive on the beam, posting five consecutive 9.8+ routines to finish with a 49.150, tying their season-high mark from last weekend. Mackenzie Barile won the event with a career-high 9.875 and she was joined by teammate Jessica Castles, who returned to the triple wolf turn to match Barile's 9.875. Caroline Herry (9.800) and Elena Deets (9.800) both posted strong routines to match their career-high marks in the event.

Floor Exercise

Arizona closed ou the meet on a high note with a 49+ team score on floor, led by Orman and Castles' 9.850s. Deets bested her previous career-high with a 9.825 from the fourth spot in the lineup.
