Wildcats Hammer Five Home Runs, Top LMU 18-2

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Powered by five home runs and contributions up and down the lineup, the Arizona Wildcats (14-6) hammered the Loyola Marymount Lions (7-11) for an 18-2 non-conference victory on Monday afternoon at Page Stadium.

The Monday win sealed a split of the Wildcats four-game jaunt to Los Angeles; they went 1-2 at No. 11 UCLA to open the trip.

Arizona's explosive offensive effort was spearheaded by a pair of freshmen in Jacob Berry and Daniel Susac; the two combined to go 7-for-10 with five runs, one triple, four home runs, and eight RBI. Three of their four home runs cleared the 37-foot tall "Blue Monster" in left field at Page Stadium.

Outfielders Tanner O'Tremba, making his first start in an Arizona uniform, and Chase Davis both drove in multiple runs as well.

In total, the Wildcats picked up their 18 runs on 16 hits (seven of which went for extra bases) and seven walks. Their 18 runs were their second-most of the year, behind only a 20-run outburst against Oklahoma at the Frisco College Baseball Classic earlier this month.

Starting pitcher Chandler Murphy worked 2.0 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit; he did not factor into the decision. He was relieved by right-handed pitcher Trevor Long( 2-0), who went 3.0 innings and held the Lions off the scoreboard to earn the win.
