FRISCO, Texas — The Arizona Wildcats (8-2) posted three runs in the bottom of the first inning on Friday afternoon versus Oklahoma (4-5) and never looked back. The Cats would go on to win their second game of the Frisco College Baseball Classic in dominant fashion, 12-1.
Everything clicked for Arizona, with the offense going for a dozen runs on 11 hits and seven walks, the defense playing error-free baseball, and the pitching staff allowing just one run while striking out 11.
Starting pitcher
Chandler Murphy (2-0) earned his second win of the year after working 5.0 innings and allowing just one run on eight hits.
Murphy exited the game in the top of the sixth innings with the bases loaded and no outs and a 6-1 lead, handing the ball to right-handed reliever
Preston Price. He proceeded to mow down three straight OU batters on strikeouts to end the threat.
Arizona answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame and the bullpen slammed the door shut to polish off the win.
