TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (28-11, 13-6) rode a brilliant outing from
Chase Silseth and their 17th double-digit scoring performance of the year to an 11-1 rout of the Utah Utes (10-24, 5-14) on Friday night.
Silseth (7-1) delivered one of his best performances of the year for the Wildcats, tossing 7.0 two-hit, scoreless innings on 94 pitches. He was nearly untouchable all night, issuing just one walk and striking out eight to earn the win and remain perfect on the year at home.
He was relieved to being the eighth inning by right-hander
Dawson Netz, who worked the final two frames and allowed just one run.
Arizona's offense jumped on Utah early and never relented, scoring four in the first and two in the third to take a commanding 6-0 lead early. At the end of the night, the Wildcats had scored multiple runs in four frames and raced back into double digits to create the comfortable final margin of 11-1.
The Cats have now won seven straight games since falling in the series opener at Washington State two weekends ago.
