Arizona Routs ASU, 14-2, in Midweek Tilt

TUCSON, Ariz. — A nearly perfect bullpen performance and yet another offensive outburst gave the Arizona Wildcats (19-8, 5-4) a 14-2 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils (16-8, 5-4) in front of a sellout crowd on Tuesday night.

The midweek non-conference matchup was the fourth and final game between the two programs this year, and the decisive win secured a 3-1 season-series victory for the Wildcats. It marked Arizona's third season-series win over their rival under head coach Jay Johnson.

Arizona's offense was relentless from the third through seventh innings and ultimately came away with 14 runs on 13 hits and 10 walks. Four players had multi-hit performances, led by third baseman Nik McClaughry who drove in a career-high four RBI and scored three runs.

Southpaws Randy Abshier (3.2 IP) and Riley Cooper (0.1 IP), along with right-handers Quinn Flanagan (2.0 IP) and Austin Smith (1.0 IP), represented the Wildcats relief efforts and combined to allow zero runs and only four baserunners.
