Cats Ride Strong Pitching to 5-1 Victory Over Cal

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (20-8, 6-4) rode terrific pitching performances to their 20th win of the year on Friday night, taking down Pac-12 Conference foe California (16-12, 4-3) on a final score of 5-1.

Arizona starter Chase Silseth (5-0) maintained a perfect record with his fourth quality start of the season; the right-hander worked 6.1 shutout innings and allowed just five hits while striking out six.

Silseth was followed by right-handers Preston Price and Vince Vannelle, who combined for four strikeouts and just two hits allowed to slam the door on the Bears.

The Wildcats lineup notched 13 base hits and drew four free bases (two walks, two HBP) to put Arizona over the top. Branden Boissiere broke through with an RBI single in the third to get the scoring started. The Cats then posted a four-run bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Ryan Holgate, to pull away.
