TUCSON, Ariz. — Hi Corbett Field has been selected as one of 20 potential predetermined preliminary round sites for this year's Division I Baseball Championship, the NCAA announced today.
Friday's announcement puts Arizona and state-of-the-art Hi Corbett Field in the running to host both NCAA Regionals and NCAA Super Regionals during the 2021 postseason. Of the 20 selected sites, the committee will choose 16 to host regional-round games. Eight of those 16 regional sites will host super regionals.
The final 16 predetermined sites will be revealed at 5:30 p.m. MST on Sunday, May 30.
Arizona last hosted an NCAA Regional at Hi Corbett Field in 2012 as the beginnings of the Wildcats run to their fourth NCAA National Championship.
Heading into this weekend's Pac-12 series against Washington, the Wildcats currently sit at No. 7 in the RPI with a No. 3 strength of schedule. Arizona (32-13, 16-8) is also ranked in all five major national polls as a unanimous Top 15 program.
