TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball ace Chase Silseth has earned the first Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week selection of his career, the conference announced today.

The Wildcats have now picked up four Pac-12 weekly honors this year, two of which were Pitcher of the Week nods. Silseth's accomplishment marks the first time Arizona has earned multiple Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week selections since 2016 (Nathan Bannister, twice), and the first time two different Wildcat pitchers have earned the honor in one season since 2012 (Kurt Heyer, Konner Wade).

Silseth, who has served as the Wildcats Friday night starting pitcher all season, posted one of his best outings of the year last weekend against the Utah Utes. In the series opener he worked 7.0 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out eight. Silseth carried a no-hit bid into the fifth inning and helped power Arizona to an 11-1 victory that kicked off the eventual series sweep.

Friday's dominant performance continued his trend of nearly unhittable work at Hi Corbett Field this season. Across seven home starts in 2021, Silseth has posted a perfect 7-0 record to go alongside an imposing 1.90 ERA.

Through 11 appearances, Silseth ranks second in the Pac-12 with seven wins and 64.0 innings pitched, while his 67 strikeouts are tied for sixth on the circuit.

Silseth and the No. 9 Wildcats wrap up their eight-game homestand with a Tuesday, May 4 matchup against Grand Canyon before heading to California for a three-game weekend series at No. 16 Stanford. Tickets for Tuesday's game are still available and can be purchased online HERE.
