TUCSON, Ariz. -- A day after it was announced that
Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza had been signed to the USSSA Pride, another Wildcat has signed with the team: shortstop
Jessie Harper will begin her pro career with the Pride.
Harper will join Palomino-Cardoza and Chelsea Goodacre on the team, giving the squad a trio of Wildcat All-Americans. The trio will compete for the Pride this summer in a variety of contests vs. national teams, other professional teams as well as collegiate all-star teams. Harper will compete with the Pride before joining Athletes Unlimited, a pro softball league that Harper and teammates
Alyssa Denham and
Dejah Mulipola were drafted to last month.
Harper just wrapped up one of the best careers in NCAA softball history. The three-time All-American finished her career with 92 home runs, tied for the Arizona and Pac-12 record and tied for the second most in Arizona history. Harper was a four-time first-team all-conference honoree and two-time Pac-12 All-Defense. She was the 2021 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete and a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2020.
Harper and Palomino-Cardoza are with the Pride in Viera, Florida after concluding their collegiate careers last week.
