TUCSON, Ariz. – The sustained academic excellence of Arizona student-athletes continued in the spring semester as the athletics department posted its highest ever overall grade point average for a semester with a 3.172. Spring 2021 marked the seventh consecutive semester of Arizona Athletics posting a department GPA of 3.0 or higher as well as setting a department record with a 3.226 cumulative GPA.

"Our student-athletes' continued success in the classroom has become a hallmark of our athletics department fulfilling our Wildcat Way mission of developing student-athletes into athletic, academic and life champions," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. "For over six years, Arizona Athletics has broken records, raised the bar and authored new chapters of academic history. I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes and C.A.T.S. Academics staff for continuing these unrivaled academic accomplishments while overcoming the challenges of global pandemic. The Wildcat Way has earned a championship pedigree in the classroom, and our student-athletes have built that with the values of integrity, compassion, adaptation and determination."

Nine of Arizona's programs recorded their highest spring semester GPA ever, which includes Baseball, Football, Men's Tennis, Women's Basketball, Gymnastics, Softball, Women's Tennis, Women's Cross Country and Women's Track and Field.

The spring semester saw 312 student-athletes (65.9%) earned a 3.0 GPA or above last semester with 205 (43.3%) earning a 3.50 or higher. An impressive 89 Wildcats (18.8%) earned perfect 4.0 GPA's in Spring 2021. Arizona Gymnastics earned the highest overall GPA of any women's program with a 3.760 last semester, and Arizona Men's Tennis posted the highest of any men's program with a 3.594.

The historical academic success of the 2020-21 school year previously included Arizona setting a new Fall overall semester record with a 3.095 GPA for Fall 2020. The athletics department also broke its all-time high score in Graduate Success Rate (GSR), with an 87 percent, in the most recently released data from the NCAA.
