TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan earns Pac-12 Freshman of the Week following a career-high five reception, 90-yard performance in a 43-20 win over Colorado on Saturday.
McMillan earned his first Pac-12 weekly honor with the Freshman of the Week selection. He made a career-high five receptions for a career-high 90 yards and caught one touchdown, his third TD reception of the season, in a 43-20 win over Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 1. McMillan becomes the second Wildcat to win this award since it was created prior to the 2019 season. QB Grant Gunnell was honored in Week 5 of the 2019 season.
The honor marks the second Pac-12 weekly award for a player on Arizona's offense after quarterback Jayden de Laura took home offensive player of the week following a Week-1 victory at San Diego State. In all, the Wildcats have earned four Pac-12 weekly selections with defensive linemen Jalen Harris and Hunter Echols taking home the Pac-12 defensive lineman of the week award in Week 1 (Harris) and Week 3 (Echols).
McMillan's lone touchdown reception put the Wildcats up 33-13 with 8:10 left in the third quarter and capped a six-play 80-yard drive with a 23-yard pass from Jayden de Laura. McMillan was one of five Wildcats to catch a touchdown pass during de Laura's six-touchdown performance, which tied an Arizona single-game record.
McMillan also completed a pass to de Laura on a trick play that went 11 yards down the Buffaloes' sideline. It was his first completion of the season.
The freshman from Waimanalo, Hawai'i, has 290 receiving yards and three touchdowns through five games during his first season with the Wildcats. McMillan has caught one touchdown in back-to-back games.
McMillan leads all Pac-12 true freshmen in receiving yards (290) and touchdowns (3) while averaging 18.1 yards per catch and tied for first in receptions (16).
On Saturday, the Wildcats are back in action against the Oregon Ducks at Arizona Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Network with Ted Robinson and Yogi Roth on the call.
