Postgame Notes - Arizona vs. Nicholls

A few notes following Arizona's 117-75 victory over Nicholls State to start the 2022-23 season:
  • Arizona was 38-of-53 from the floor for 71.7% for the game, setting a new Arizona single-game record for field goal percentage. The previous record was 25-of-35 (.714) set on Feb. 24, 1984 against Oregon State
  • The 117 points are the most scored in a season opener since scoring 122 against Austin Peay to open the 1990-91 season.
  • The 42-point margin of victory was the biggest in a season opener since defeating Idaho State, 90-42, on Nov. 14, 2010.
  • Azuolas Tubelis posted 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the win, becoming the first Arizona player since Ivan Radenovic to post that stat line in a game.
  • Arizona had 30 assists in the game, the most since Nov. 27, 2021 against Sacramento State (30). So Arizona has accomplished this twice in the last two seasons, but prior to that, the Wildcats had not had 30 assists in a game since 2001.
  • Pelle Larsson posted his first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds to go with four assists and two steals.
  • The Wildcats shot 61.1% from the 3-point line, going 11 of 18 for the game. It's the best percentage in a game with at least 18 attempts since Feb. 19, 2011 when Arizona was 11 of 18 against Washington.
  • Arizona had 24 turnovers in the game against Nicholls, the most in turnovers in a win since 27 in a 63-55 win over Southern Miss on Dec. 4, 2012.
  • Adama Bal came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points
  • Oumar Ballo had a career-high four assists in the game to go along with career-bests in free throws made (8) and attempted (11)
  • 13 different Wildcats scored in the game
  • As a team, Arizona was 30 of 40 from the free throw line
