Arizona Athletics Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Title IX

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Athletics is launching its campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX by recognizing and honoring the department's rich history and legacy of women's sports and Wildcat trail blazers. The University of Arizona has been home to numerous pioneers and milestone moments over the past five decades and beyond. The athletics department will pay tribute to Wildcat women's sports history over the coming months, capped by a soon-to-be-announced marquee event to be held on the anniversary date of June 23, 2022.

"As we reflect and celebrate the 50th anniversary of this important moment in sports, Arizona Athletics will highlight the impact of Title IX on women's sports as well as our own storied history here at the University of Arizona," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. "Our programs have helped raise the profile of women's sports, produced trail blazers and iconic leaders and set a standard of excellence for all student-athletes to strive to achieve. The Wildcat Way is our everyday mission, and we are extremely proud of the impact women's sports continues to have on our development of academic, athletic and life champions."
