SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Arizona Men's Golf will look to defend their conference title at the Pac-12 Championships at Aldarra Golf Club just east of Seattle, beginning on Monday, April 25. The Wildcats won the 2021 crown at Mayacama Golf Club in Santa Rosa, California a year ago as then-senior
Brad Reeves also won the individual championship as well. Arizona won the 2022 edition of the Arizona Intercollegiate at Tucson Country Club as well as posting a runner-up finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Arkansas in the fall.
"We are excited to play some golf in the Pacific Northwest and take on the challenge of defending our title," said head coach
Jim Anderson. "This is a new course for our team and much of the conference, which I feel we are experienced for this challenge after completing our schedule this season. We've won tournaments as a team and individually this year with a slew of top-three finishes as well, and I believe we are prepared for a week of great scores and performances."
The Pac-12 Championships have been held in the state of Washington on 14 different occasions but never at Aldarra Golf Club. The Wildcats have won four Pac-12 championships in program history, securing the win in 1987, 1991, 2004 and 2021.
Graduate senior
Christian Banke, who won the 2022 Arizona Intercollegiate, enters the week with the team's best scoring average for the season at 70.56. Banke has finished in the top 10 in six of his nine tournaments this season. Junior
Chase Sienkiewicz is right behind Banke with an average of 71.11 this season with a runner-up finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in the fall and a fifth-place finish in last week's Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, California.
The format of the conference championships is six players with the five lowest scores counting. The field will play two rounds on Monday before competing in 18 holes on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Aldarra Golf Club will play as a par-71 at 6,979 yards.
