This year's tournament marks the first time it has been held in Maui since 2019, after playing the last two on the mainland due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
"Finalizing the Maui Jim Maui Invitational bracket signals to fans and teams everywhere that college basketball season is upon us, but this year feels even more exciting," said Tournament Chairman, David Odom. "While we've been able to keep the magic of Maui alive the last two years on the mainland, returning to our rightful home on the island has never felt so good - and we're bringing an incredible field of teams to help us celebrate that homecoming!"
Â
The all-time series between Arizona and Cincinnati stands at 3-0 in favor of the Wildcats, with UA coming away with a 79-76 win over the Bearcats in Phoenix on Feb. 11, 1996, thanks to a Miles Simon
65-foot 3-pointer as the final buzzer sounded. Arizona also posted a 70-60 win in Phoenix on Feb. 21, 1993, and a 71-64 triumph at the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu on Dec. 27, 1975.
Â
The Wildcats will be making their eighth appearance in the Maui Invitational after competing in 2018, 2014, 2009, 2005, 2000, 1997 and 1993. Arizona captured the tournament championship in 2000 with Michael Wright being named MVP and again in 2014 when Stanley Johnson garnered MVP honors.
Â
In the seven previous seasons when Arizona played in the Maui Invitational, the Wildcats have gone on to make five NCAA Tournament appearances. In those five appearances, UA has made two Final Four appearances (1993, 2000) and two Elite Eight appearances (1997, 2014).
Â
Arizona's all-time record in the event is 14-8 with the 14 victories tied for the third-most in the 37-year history of the event. The 22 total games played ranks second in tournament history behind North Carolina's 23.
