TUCSON, Ariz. — The 2022 Wildcats got their first taste of "game" action on Saturday morning in a two-hour scrimmage inside Arizona Stadium.
Fans in attendance were greeted by an impressive performance from the offense up and down the depth chart. Among the takeaways from Saturday's scrimmage:
The Cats are back to work on Sunday night and will practice five more times this coming week before another tune-up at Arizona Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 20.
Saturday's scrimmage was also the debut of Arizona Stadium's
brand-new FieldTurf surface, a $1.3 million investment aimed at improving the student-athlete experience.

Tyler Loop, who was perfect in Saturday's scrimmage, connected on 12-of-12 field goal attempts last year. He enters the 2022 season as the Wildcats presumed full-time kicker and has earned a spot on the Lou Groza Award watch list.
