FRANKLIN, Tenn. – No. 23 Arizona Women's Golf will open its 2022-23 season at the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt University. The Wildcats are part of a 14-team field, which includes six teams ranked in the WGCA's preseason poll, that tees off on Friday, Sept. 23 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Arizona last participated in the event in 2012 when it won the team championship by three strokes over Virginia.
"I am extremely excited to get this season started at an outstanding tournament like the Mason Rudolph Championship," said head coach
Laura Ianello. "We have a great history at this event, and Vanderbilt Legends Club is an elite golf course to compete at. Gile is our lone senior with our sophomores and freshmen on the trip, but it is a great opportunity for our entire lineup to compete and start the season off strong."
The Wildcat lineup includes senior
Gile Bite Starkute as well as returning sophomores
Carolina Melgrati and
Lilas Pinthier. Melgrati was voted to the Preseason ANNIKA Award Watchlist this season following her All-Pac-12 and WGCA Honorable Mention All-American honors as a freshman a season ago. Freshmen
Julia Misemer and
Nena Wongthanavimok round out the lineup.
Arizona will go off the first hole on Friday morning alongside Alabama and Georgia.
