Tiger Christensen made history by winning the individual title with a final score of 19-under. Arizona's 20-under round on Tuesday punched a ticket to the match play finale against Florida State for the team championship on Wednesday.
Christensen's win was the first of his collegiate career and broke a program record for the lowest 54-hole score in a tournament. With a 20-under performance in Tuesday's round, Arizona finished with an impressive team score of 46-under par and locked in their position as the No. 2 seed for the match play championship.
The Hamburg, Germany native's final round of 64 was one of three rounds of 68 or lower for the Wildcat lineup. Sophomore
Zach Pollo fired a 6-under round of 66 to rise up into a tie for third place on the player leaderboards at 13-under. Fellow sophomore
Filip Jakubcik carded a 4-under round of 68 to end stroke play, which put him into a tie for 19
th at 5-under.
The Cats will face the Seminoles in an 18-hole match play format that mirrors the NCAA Championships on Wednesday. The two teams will tee off at 10:20 a.m. (MST) from the first hole at Trinity Forest Golf Club on the Golf Channel.
