Noah Fifita Earns Third Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Honor

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Football quarterback Noah Fifita has earned his third Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor following the 27-24 win over No. 11 Oregon State Saturday.

Redshirt Freshman quarterback Noah Fifita completed 25-of-32 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns as the Wildcats took down the No. 11 Beavers 27-24 on Saturday at Arizona Stadium. Fifita has earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.

Fifita has earned this honor three times which ties for the second-most times in award history (since 2019), marking the most for the Wildcats since the award was created in 2019. Fifita has started a run of Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors that hasn't been rivaled at Arizona since Khalil Tate earned four Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors during the 2017 season. He wins this award for the 3rd time in last 4 weeks becoming the first player to win it 3 times this season.  Cal RB Jaydn Ott and Oregon State RB Damien Martinez both won it 3 times last season.  Former Utah RB Ty Jordan won it 3 times in 2020.  The player to win it the most (award created in 2019) was former Arizona State (now LSU) QB Jayden Daniels with 4 in 2019.

Arizona trailed 7-3 and 17-13 and rallied to take a 27-17 lead with 2:22 left in the fourth quarter behind sound decisions and two touchdown passes to running back Michael Wiley. The first score was a 40-yard pass with 8:46 left and the second was a three-yard dot to Wiley in the end zone to put the Wildcats up 10.

It marks the second time this season that Fifita has led a comeback victory after lifting Arizona past Stanford 21-20 on the road on Sept. 23. In the Pac-12 opener, the Wildcats trailed 17-14 in the third quarter before mounting the come-from-behind win.

Fifita is now the season leader in completions (119), attempts (157), passing yards (1,221), and passing touchdowns (11). He has thrown three or more touchdowns in three of the last four games. Fifita completed 78.1 percent of his passes against Oregon State, marking his second-best completion percentage of the season (min: 30 pass attempts). He is the first FBS quarterback to have each of his first four career starts happen against AP Top 25 teams since Stanford's Kevin Hogan in 2012.

The Wildcats are back in action against No. 20 UCLA on Homecoming Saturday, Nov. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MST on FS1.
