Arizona Football Lands at No. 21 in College Football Playoff Rankings

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Football has been selected No. 21 in the second College Football Playoff Rankings of the 2023 season after winning three straight games against ranked opponents for the first time in program history.

Arizona returns to the CFP Rankings for the first time since 2017. The Wildcats were ranked as high as No. 7 during the inaugural season of the CFP Rankings in 2014. The Wildcats were selected No. 23 and No. 24 in the AP Top-25 and USA Today Coaches Poll Sunday.  

Arizona is one of three teams in FBS to beat three ranked teams this season. A list that includes Alabama and Texas. The Wildcats are among an exclusive list of football and men's basketball programs that are ranked in the top 25, including Texas, North Carolina, Kansas, and Alabama.

The Wildcats are one of three teams in the Pac-12 to face five ranked opponents this season. The Wildcats (3-2) are the only team to have an above .500 record after facing those teams. California (0-5) and Colorado (1-4) are the other Pac-12 teams that have faced five ranked teams this season.

Arizona has won three straight games for the first time since 2019 and boasts three wins against AP Top 25 teams in consecutive games, the first time the feat has been accomplished in program history. The Wildcats defeated No. 19 Washington State, 44-6, and took down No. 11 Oregon State, 27-24, and sank the No. 19 UCLA Bruins 27-10.

Arizona is back in action at Colorado with a 12 p.m. MST kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 11. The game will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.
