Wildcats Sending Competitors to Spokane for Weekend Meet

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Arizona Track and Field team will be competing at the WSU Open/Invite & Multi's this weekend. The three-day meet will take place in Spokane, Wash., from Thursday, Feb. 2 to Saturday, Feb. 4.

The meet begins on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. MST with the men's heptathlon 60m. The events will continue Friday, getting started at 12:00 p.m. MST with the men's heptathlon 60m hurdles. Finally, the end of the three-day competition will get underway at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with the women's 3k. Live results for all the events can be found here.

The WSU Open/Invite & Multi's follows up the Wildcats' two competitions last weekend at Texas Tech and Washington. The events in Lubbock, Texas were highlighted by Talie Bonds lowering her own school record in the 60m hurdles, which she set in the first meet of the year, to finish second overall. Additionally, Jordan Geist won both the men's shot put and men's weight throw. His shot put toss of 21.48m from earlier in the year still remains the 10th best throw in NCAA History.

Katie Daily and Alexa Porpaczy also had top-three finishes in Lubbock, with Daily placing second in the women's pole vault and Porpaczy finishing third in the women's long jump. In Seattle, Iker Sanchez Lopez was the team's top finisher, placing 10th in the men's mile. Overall, the team combined to set over 20 new personal bests at both meets.

The men's team comes into the weekend ranked 26th in the USTFCCCA rankings, barely missing out on another week in the Top 25.

A meet recap will be posted to ArizonaWildcats.com detailing the competition results. Live updates will also be posted to @ArizonaTrack on Twitter.
