Track and Field Finishes Day Two of Competition in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – Arizona Track and Field continued the WSU Open/Invite & Multi's on Friday. The Wildcats were led by top performances from Reinaldo Rodrigues, Alisa Lyesina, Carl Hicks, and the women's distance medley relay (DMR) team.

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
In the men's long jump, Reinaldo Rodrigues finished second overall and posted a new indoor PR with a leap of 7.40m (24-3.5). Additionally, Sir Jonathan Sims barely missed out on a new personal best by 0.01m, but his jump of 7.12m (23-4.5) was still good enough for a fourth-place finish.
 
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
In the first running event of the day, Alisa Lyesina finished second overall in the women's 800m with a time of 2:10.63.
 
Carl Hicks set a new personal record in the men's 200m, running a 21.54 and finishing second overall. Two more Wildcats finished in the top ten as well: Trayvion White-Austin, who ran a 21.60, and James Onanubosi, who ran a 21.77. Additionally, Diego Marquez set a new PR for the second week in a row, clocking a 22.10.
 
Three Wildcats finished in the top ten of the men's 800m: Cade Russo, Evan Simmons, and Iker Sanchez Lopez. Russo broke his personal best by running a 1:53.96 and placed fifth overall. He was followed by Simmons who ran a PR of 1:54.90 and finished sixth in only his second career indoor 800m run. Additionally, Sanchez Lopez clocked a 1:55.27 and ended in ninth.
 
In the women's 200m, Neysia Howard ran a 24.17 to finish fourth overall, continuing her trend of being the top Wildcat runner in the event so far this season.  
 
To finish off the day, the Arizona women's DMR team won the event with a time of 11:44.28. Sailor Hutton started the race with the 1200m, Neysia Howard ran the 400m, Alisa Lyesina completed the 800m, and Brigid Hanley finished the event with the 1600m.
 
The final day of the meet will begin tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. MST with the women's 3k. As always, live results can be found here.
