Five Home Runs Lead Arizona to Doubleheader Sweep of NMSU

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 17 Wildcats (19-7) swept New Mexico State in a pair of run-rule victories on Wednesday night. Both games were won on walk-off home runs from Devyn Netz and Izzy Pacho.
 
Game 1 | Arizona 10, New Mexico State 0 (5 inn.)
Arizona run-ruled the Aggies in the first game, 10-0, in five innings. The Cats scored 10 runs on 12 hits and three Wildcats hit home runs in the game.
 
Jasmine Perezchica went 3-for-3 while Olivia DiNardo and Paige Dimler had two hits each. Each of Dimler's hits were home runs, giving her three homers on the season.
 
In the first, the Cats scored three runs on a three-run home run from Allie Skaggs. Dimler added two runs for Arizona on a two-run homer in the second to make it 5-0.
 
In the fourth, Dimler hit her second home run of the game to give the Cats a 6-0 lead.
 
Dakota Kennedy had an RBI single in the fifth and Devyn Netz hit a walk-off three-run home run to end the first game.
 
Sydney Somerndike improved to 4-1 and recorded a career-best six strikeouts through 4.0 innings pitched. Ali Blanchard entered the game in the fifth, retiring all three batters she faced, including one strikeout.
 
Game 2 | Arizona 9, New Mexico State 1 (5 inn.)
The Cats mercy-ruled NMSU, 9-1, in five innings in the nightcap. Izzy Pacho hit her second home run of the season to secure the victory for Arizona.
 
Perezchica and Skaggs each went 2-for-3 while Skaggs and Pacho drove in three runs each.
 
In the first, Skaggs hit an RBI double to put the Cats on the board first. In the top of the second, NMSU scored on a throwing error to tie the game.
 
Arizona put up five runs in the second for a 6-1 lead. Dimler scored on an NMSU error and Carlie Scupin was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the second run of the inning. Skaggs hit her second double of the game to drive in two more for the Cats and DiNardo had an RBI single extend Arizona's lead.
 
Izzy Pacho hit a walk-off three-run home run in the fifth to complete the doubleheader sweep of the Aggies.
 
Blanchard improved to 5-0 after pitching 4.0 innings and striking out two batters. Brianna Hardy closed the game, retiring three batters on nine pitches.
