TUCSON, Ariz. — A seventh-inning rally and a twelfth-inning walkoff from
Garen Caulfield secured a series win for the Arizona Wildcats (7-3) over the visiting North Dakota State Bison (1-10) on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats rallied from four runs down in the bottom of the seventh;
Chase Davis drew a bases-loaded walk and
Kiko Romero brought in a run on a sacrifice fly before
Cameron LaLiberte knotted things up with a two-run double down the line in left.
Both bullpens continued to duel into extra innings until Arizona broke through in the 12th. Romero opened the frame with a leadoff double, LaLiberte moved him to third on an infield bunt single, and Caulfield lifted the game-winning sacrifice fly to right to send the Wildcats home victorious.
The Wildcats bullpen was stellar down the stretch, holding the Bison scoreless on just six hits across the final 5.1 innings. Right-hander
Derek Drees earned his first win at Arizona after tossing a scoreless top of the 12th.
Starting pitcher Anthony Susac did not factor into the decision after going 4.2 innings and allowing two runs on five hits; he struck out five.
