Cats Fall to Oregon in Game One

EUGENE, Ore. – Arizona was run-ruled by No. 17 Oregon on Friday night, 8-0, in six innings.
 
The Wildcats only had three hits in the game – singles from Blaise Biringer, Tayler Biehl, and Paige Dimler.
 
Oregon scored two in the first inning on an RBI groundout and a wild pitch. The Ducks added two more in the bottom of the fourth on a two-RBI single for a 4-0 lead.
 
The Cats were able to get runners on base in the third, fifth, and sixth innings but couldn't bring the runs across. In the fifth, Oregon hit a three-run home run to extend their lead to 7-0.
 
The Ducks hit a walk-off single in the sixth to win the game, 8-0.
 
Devyn Netz took the loss to fall to 12-13 on the season. The junior pitched the first 4.0 innings but gave up four runs. Sydney Somerndike entered the circle to start the fifth and gave up the home run to Oregon. Lefty Aissa Silva entered in relief for Somerndike in the fifth and pitched the final 1.1 innings.
