EUGENE, Ore. – The Wildcats fell to No. 17 Oregon, 8-3, in the second game of the series on Saturday. The Cats scored three runs on five hits but left six runners on base.
Devyn Netz recorded a pair of hits for Arizona while
Olivia DiNardo led the Cats with two RBI.
It was a pitcher's duel through the first two and a half before Oregon scored four in the bottom of the third on a pair of RBI singles and a two-RBI double.
Arizona scored three in the fifth to make it a 4-3 game. With two outs,
Blaise Biringer hit an RBI double and DiNardo followed with a two-RBI double.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Ducks extended their lead to 7-3 with back-to-back home runs. Oregon added one more in the sixth with an RBI single for an 8-3 lead.
Ali Blanchard (6-2) picked up the loss to fall after pitching 4.0 innings and giving up four runs. Netz relieved Blanchard in the third inning and gave up two runs before Blanchard returned to the circle.
Aissa Silva entered in the fifth to pitch the final 1.2 innings and gave up two runs.
