Wildcats Rout Huskies in Rubber Match, 13-1

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (16-13, 5-10) put together a complete effort to trounce the Washington Huskies (19-10, 6-6) to the tune of a 13-1 final score on Saturday afternoon, winning the series in the process.

Designated hitter Emilio Corona drove in five runs on a 2-for-4 performance to lead the offense. His two-run home run in the second inning put the Wildcats in front and gave them a lead they would never surrender.

Right fielder Tyler Casagrande collected a career-high four hits and four runs, while shortstop Nik McClaughry and Kiko Romero both drove in multiple runs. Overall the Arizona offense collected 13 runs on 17 hits and nine walks.

Starting pitcher Aiden May (3-2) was dominant, allowing just one run on five hits over five innings of work. The right-hander struck out five and issued only one walk en route to earning his third win of the year.

The Wildcats bullpen was lights out in relief, combining to limit the Huskies to just one hit over the final four innings. Left-hander Eric Orloff contributed two hitless innings and right-hander Chris Barraza fanned three in the ninth inning.
