TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Softball has added former support staff member Danny Martinez as its director of operations, the program announced on Monday.  

Martinez joins the staff after a decade in the department in the communications and marketing departments. 

"We're excited to welcome Danny back to the Arizona Softball family," said head coach Caitlin Lowe. "Danny has always been passionate about our program and represents what it means to wear the Block A. He is invested in the well-being of our players and will elevate our program."

From 2011-2021, Martinez served as the team's Sports Information Director under head coach Mike Candrea. He returns to the program after spending two seasons working with the athletics department's digital marketing and social media. 

"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this staff and this program," said Martinez. "I have a great deal of passion for Arizona Softball and cannot wait to be a part of the team once again. I cannot thank Coach Lowe and the entire staff enough for welcoming me in." 

Martinez also serves as Hillenbrand Stadium's PA announcer, and will continue to do so in his new role. A Tucson native, Martinez attended the University of Arizona, where he worked with the softball program as a student SID.
