5 Wildcats Selected to Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona Football had Taylor Upshaw, Michael Wiley, Jordan Morgan, Jacob Cowing, and Tanner McLachlan named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List. 

The Wildcats selected to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List included defensive lineman Taylor Upshaw, running back Michael Wiley, offensive lineman Jordan Morgan, wide receiver Jacob Cowing, and tight end Tanner McLachlan

Upshaw, a transfer from Michigan, enters his first season as a grad student for the Wildcats in 2023. He appeared in over 37 games on the defensive line during his collegiate career with Michigan. He brought pressure off the edge against TCU in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl/CFP Semifinal on Dec. 31, 2022. Last year, he appeared in all 14 games for the Wolverines, making 12 tackles including 4.5 for loss with two sacks, one interception, and one QB hurry to earn his fourth varsity letter. 

Wiley, a senior running back, adds this honor to a list of preseason accolades including the All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and Doak Walker Award Watch List. Wiley rushed for a career-high 771 yards on a career-high 113 carries and punched into the end zone for a career-high eight touchdowns during the 2022 season. He became the first Wildcat running back to rush for over 700 yards in a season since JJ Taylor (721) in 2019. 

Morgan, a senior offensive lineman, ranked 21st in the nation in offensive blocking with a rating of 83.1. He ranked 36th nationally in run blocking with a rating of 78.6. Morgan allowed one sack in 670 total snaps including 443 passing snaps. He posted a 97.8% efficiency rating. Morgan helped make time for the Wildcats sixth-ranked passing offense and 21st-ranked total offense, averaging 30.8 points per game. He provided time for QB Jayden de Laura to pass for 400-plus yards in two games; first 401 yards at Cal (9/24); second 400 yards at Washington (10/15).

Cowing, a senior wide receiver, led the Pac-12 with 85 receptions and finished fourth in the Pac-12 in receiving yards (1,034) while catching seven touchdowns to tie for second in the conference. He has been named to AP Preseason Second-Team All-American Team,  Biletnikoff Award Watch List, Maxwell Award Watch List, Paul Hornung Award Watch List, and the preseason All-Pac-12 Second-Team during the past few months. 

McLachlan, a senior tight end, reeled in 34 receptions a season ago marking the most in a single season since Rob Gronkowski caught 47 passes during the 2008 season. He recorded 456 receiving yards which are the fifth-most by a tight end in a single season in program history. 

Arizona opens the 2023 football season at home against Northern Arizona on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Network.

In each of the past three years, the Reese's Senior Bowl has had 100 or more players drafted and over 40 percent of the entire draft class, which are both record-setting figures for an all-star game.
