Cats Dominate in 3-0 Win Over Oregon

TUCSON - Arizona opened conference play on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Oregon. The victory marked the Wildcats' first in a conference opener since 2017 when Arizona defeated Oregon 3-1.

Sami Baytosh put the Cats out in front early, netting a goal in the 14th minute. After an Arizona corner kick, Aranda Hurge wove around an Oregon defender before getting the ball to Ella Hatteberg. Hatteberg sent the ball into the box where Baytosh was waiting to get it past Oregon goalkeeper Maddy Goldberg.

Baytosh recorded a brace when she scored Arizona's second goal of the match in the 46th minute. Nicole Dallin took a pair of shots that were each blocked, and Baytosh was able to collect the rebound from the second shot to net the goal.

The pair of goals marked the first match of Baytosh's career in which she has scored two or more goals.

Dallin scored her seventh goal of the season in the 61st minute. Savannah Holley passed the ball to Desiree Foster, who served it up to Dallin in the box. The Menifee, Calif., native hit a header off of Foster's pass into the net for the 3-0 lead.

With the clean sheet, Hope Hisey recorded her second shutout of the season and the 22nd of her career.

By the 21st minute, five Wildcats were responsible for seven shots. Cameron Valladares and Dallin had two apiece while Megan Chelf, Holley and Baytosh each had one.

At the end of the first half, Arizona held a 13-3 edge over the Ducks in Shots. Hisey made two saves in the initial period.

The final stats included 25 shots by Arizona of which nine were on goal. Hisey tallied three saves in the match to bring her career total to 318.

Arizona returns to action Thursday, Sept. 29 at 3:00 p.m. MST as it travels to California.
