CORVALLIS, Ore. - Kailyn Gilbert scored 22 points, Esmery Martinez dropped 20 and two more Wildcats were in double digits, but Arizona fell to Oregon State 70-73 on Friday.
Jada Williams and Breya Cunningham joined Martinez in double digits with Williams pouring in 11 and Cunningham scoring 10. The group accounted for 21 rebounds, Martinez leading the way with eight.
Martinez nearly had a double-double on the night with her 20 points and eight rebounds. She had three assists and three steals to go alongside a block.
The Wildcats shot 0-of-4 to start the game but followed up the initial drought by making five of their next seven shots. Martinez opened the game 3-of-4 for six of the Wildcats' early points.
Arizona held a 29-25 edge going into halftime thanks to a 7-0 run at the end of the half that was capped by a buzzer-beater from Gilbert.
The second half saw the lead switch hands several times, and at the end of regulation the score was tied a 60 apiece. The teams traded the lead with Oregon State's Raegan Beers hitting four free throws in the first overtime period and Gilbert hitting a pair of shots to force a second overtime at 64 points each.
Arizona forced 25 Oregon State turnovers for its ninth game of the season forcing at least 20.
Arizona returns to action Sunday at 1:00 p.m. MST as they travel to Eugene, Ore., to take on the Ducks.
