TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Soccer wrapped their last home game of the season with a 5-1 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats. The win marks Arizona's first ten-win season since 2019.
Arizona set the tone for Sunday's match with a goal in the second minute from fifth-year
Nicole Dallin, assisted by senior
Gianna Christiansen. Kansas State responded with a goal in the ninth minute from Jo Sees, evening the score. Tied 1-1, the Cats went on to dominate possession for the remainder of the half.
In the 18th minute, Arizona saw another goal off the head of
Megan Chelf, with assists from Christiansen and Dallin. Kansas State received a yellow card in the box at the 31st minute, allowing a penalty kick for Arizona. Christiansen successfully scored on the penalty and upped the score 3-1. Arizona totaled 11 shots and four corners in the first 45 minutes.
The Arizona Wildcats maintained control of the ball throughout the second half. In the 54th minute, freshman
Narissa Fults scored Arizona's fourth goal of the game off assists from
Ella Weathersby and Dallin. The Cats got a look at the net once again in the 64th minute, and junior
Maia Brown scored her first career goal off assists from
Kennedy Fletcher and
Zoe Mendiola.
In total, Arizona out-shot Kansas State 19-5, only allowing for two shots on goal, resulting in two saves for goalkeeper
Olivia Ramey.
The Cats will head up to Tempe this Friday, Oct. 25 for their last regular season match against Arizona State.
