Wildcats Rally to Beat Toreros, 10-9, in Series Finale

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The Arizona Wildcats (4-3) rallied from a large first inning deficit to win their series finale against the San Diego Toreros (4-3) on a final score of 10-9.

The Wildcats found themselves in a 6-0 hole early in the first inning before right-hander Cam Walty steadied the ship. The senior ultimately worked 5.2 innings of shutout ball while striking out five to hold off San Diego while the Arizona offense went to work erasing the deficit.

Second baseman Garen Caulfield got the scoring started with the first of his three RBI single in the third inning. Home runs from designated hitter Andrew Cain in the fourth inning and shortstop Mason White in the sixth helped the Cats pull even, while left fielder Brendan Summerhill's solo shot to lead off the seventh gave Arizona their first lead of the game.

The Wildcats picked up a pair of insurance runs in the eighth that would turn out to be crucial. San Diego rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning before right-hander Casey Hintz shut the door and earned his first career save.
