White, Netz Earn Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Selections

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball infielder Mason White and right-handed pitcher Dawson Netz have both earned spots on the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference team, the league announced this morning.

Players are nominated for, and voted onto, the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference team by the league's head coaches.

White, a Tucson native, picked up Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball following his first campaign with the Wildcats last season. Across 53 games and 48 starts, White posted a .313 batting average with 50 runs scored, 18 doubles, seven triples, 10 home runs, and 35 RBI. His seven triples led the team and ranked second in the Pac-12 last year, while his 12 doubles in Pac-12 play tied the program's freshman conference record. White was one of six Wildcats to swat double-digit home runs last season, a mark that is believed to be a program record. His success extended into the postseason as well, where he earned the start in all six games and hit .308 while scoring in 5-of-6 contests. This marks White's first Preseason All-Conference selection of his career.

Netz, a fifth-year senior, is also earning the first Preseason All-Conference selection of his career. The right-hander logged the best season of his career last year, going 2-0 with a 3.33 ERA and 27 strikeouts across a team-leading 32 appearances on the mound. Netz opened the 2023 season with nine consecutive scoreless outings, spanning nine innings of work; he struck out 10 batters and allowed just four hits (all singles) over that stretch. In four years with the Wildcats, Netz has made 74 appearances and owns a 3.93 ERA to go along with 103 strikeouts. The veteran right-hander has also found success on the biggest stages with Arizona, boasting 11 postseason appearances and a 2.94 ERA. Netz enters his final season of collegiate baseball just 26 appearances shy of setting the program record for games pitched. Dawson's younger sister, Devyn, also earned Preseason All-Pac-12 honors with Arizona Softball last week.

The Pac-12 also released their annual Preseason Coaches Poll on Wednesday, where the Wildcats were selected to finish ninth in the conference standings. Arizona will face the teams selected to finish first through third place in the conference at home this season.
