TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 22 Wildcats lost the first game of the series to No. 7 Washington, 13-2, in six innings on Friday night.
The Huskies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and Arizona drew two walks in the bottom of the first but couldn't plate any runners.
Washington scored their fourth run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning.
In the fourth,
Blaise Biringer drove in Arizona's first run of the game with an RBI double. Washington answered with back-to-back solo home runs in the fifth to add to their lead.
The Huskies scored seven runs in the sixth on a single and three home runs for a 13-1 lead in the game. Arizona drove in one run on a
Paige Dimler single in the bottom of the sixth but it wasn't enough for the Cats.
Aissa Silva picked up the loss to fall to 11-2 on the season. She pitched the first 3.0 innings, allowing four runs on six hits before being relieved by
Ali Blanchard in the fourth. Blanchard went the final 3.0 innings, allowing only two earned runs on six hits.
