TUCSON, Ariz. – Alysen Fears and
Malia Hargrove have been named All-Pac-12 honorable mention, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Fears, a Murrieta, Calif. native, has been tabbed All-Pac-12 honorable mention in the all-around- her first career Pac-12 honor. The junior ranks eighth in the conference and 36th nationally with a 39.415 NQS. Fears set a career high of 39.475 in the all-around against Southern Connecticut State and has tied that mark in three-straight meets. She also set career high marks on every event this season – 9.90 on vault, beam, and floor and 9.950 on bars.
Hargrove, a native of Sparks, Nev., earned the second Pac-12 honor of her career as an honorable mention on vault. She ranks seventh on vault in the Pac-12 and 33rd nationally with a 9.895 NQS. Hargrove tied her career high of 9.975 on the event at California and has posted scores of 9.70 and above on vault in every meet this season, including four meets with a 9.90 and above.
The All-Conference teams are determined by qualifying scores, including the regular season, and the Pac-12 Championships. The All-Pac-12 First Team consists of the top six all-around performers, and top six performers in each individual event (including ties) based on national qualifying scores (through March 20). All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention consists of seventh- and eighth-place performances in each individual event and the all-around (including ties) based on national qualifying scores.
Fears, Hargrove and the GymCats will compete in the NCAA Fayetteville Regional against 2-seed LSU, 10-seed Arkansas, and Kentucky on Thursday, April 4 at 11 a.m. MST.
