SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Arizona Wildcats (30-18, 17-8) fell on a final score of 6-1 in their series opener at the Utah Utes (31-16, 16-9) on Friday morning at Smith's Ballpark.

Jackson Kent pitched six innings and allowed four earned runs while striking out three; he was tagged with the loss to move to 3-2 on the year.

Matthew Martinez posted a scoreless eighth inning with a strikeout.
Center fielder
Brandon Rogers, a defensive replacement following an injury for the Wildcats, belted a no-doubt solo home run in the fifth inning to drive in Arizona's only run of the game.
