TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball has been selected to host an NCAA Baseball Championships Regional at Hi Corbett Field this coming weekend, the NCAA announced this evening.
Exact dates, times, and visiting opponents for the Tucson Regional at Hi Corbett Field will be announced tomorrow morning during the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Selection Show. The broadcast is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. MST on ESPN2.
Sunday night's selection marks the 16th time in program history that Arizona Baseball will host the opening round of the NCAA Baseball Championships in Tucson, and the third time they will play host at historic Hi Corbett Field.
The Arizona Wildcats secured their 43rd NCAA Tournament appearance in program history after earning the Pac-12 Conference's automatic bid on Saturday night. Arizona's 4-3 walkoff win over the USC Trojans captured the Pac-12 Tournament title for the Wildcats exactly one week after they clinched the Pac-12 regular season championship in walkoff fashion over Oregon State in Tucson.
Arizona, led by third-year head coach
Chip Hale, has made the NCAA Tournament in four straight seasons for the first time since earning 14 straight bids from 1950–1963. Coach Hale is just the second coach in program history to advance to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first three seasons at the helm.
