Four Wildcats Named CSC Academic All-District

TUCSON, Ariz. – Tayler Biehl, Dakota Kennedy, Carlie Scupin, and Allie Skaggs were named CSC Academic All-District, the association announced on Tuesday. The four honorees are tied for the highest amount in Arizona Softball's history. Kennedy, Scupin, and Skaggs are now eligible to be named Academic All-America.
 
Biehl, a nutritional sciences major with a 4.00 GPA, is receiving her first Academic All-District honor. The sophomore shortstop was named the Pac-12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year and third-team All-Pac-12 after recording a .977 fielding percentage and leading Arizona and the Pac-12 with 103 assists during the regular season. Biehl finished the season with a .974 fielding percentage and 114 assists. Offensively, she recorded four doubles, three triples, six home runs, and drove in 27 runs during the season.
 
Kennedy, a criminal justice studies major, has a 4.00 GPA and is earning her first Academic All-America honor. She was first-team NFCA All-West Region, first-team All-Pac-12, and earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Defensive team. The sophomore left fielder finished the season with a Pac-12-leading .521 on-base percentage and ranked second on Arizona with a .400 batting average, 68 hits, 10 doubles, and 13 home runs. Defensively, Kennedy recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and led Arizona's outfield with 111 putouts.
 
Scupin, who graduated with a degree in marketing, maintained a 3.643 GPA to receive her second Academic All-District selection. This season, the first baseman from Tucson recorded nine doubles, 13 home runs, and led the Wildcats with 58 RBI to earn NFCA All-West third team, All-Pac-12 second team, and Pac-12 All-Defensive honors. During her career, Scupin maintained a .357 batting average and totaled 208 hits, 40 doubles, 192 RBI and hit 51 home runs to rank 17th in Arizona home run history.
 
Skaggs, who earned her degree in journalism with a 3.917 GPA, is receiving her second Academic All-District selection. The second baseman earned first-team NFCA All-West Region and first-team All-Pac-12 honors after hitting .304 with five doubles, 14 home runs, and 48 RBI. During her career, Skaggs maintained a .328 batting average with 177 hits, 20 doubles, 181 RBI, and totaled 57 home runs to rank 13th in Arizona home run history.
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 18, 2024.
