Wildcats Complete Sweep of Cardinal with 7-2 Win in Finale

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (29-17, 17-7) picked up their 10th consecutive conference home win on Sunday afternoon, downing the Stanford Cardinal (20-24, 11-13) on a final score of 7-2 to complete the series sweep.

Starting pitcher Cam Walty tossed a quality start, working seven innings and holding Stanford to just two runs while striking out three. The right-hander earned the win to improve to 7-1 on the season.

The Wildcats bullpen was lights out, with right-handers Casey Hintz (1.0 IP) and Anthony Susac (1.0 IP) combining for two scoreless, hitless innings while striking out a pair.

Arizona entered the sixth inning trailing Stanford 2-1 before exploding for six runs to take the lead. Right fielder Emilio Corona evened the game with an RBI single, while a two-run double from designated hitter Andrew Cain and a three-run double from center fielder Brendan Summerhill gave the Wildcats a lead and broke the game open, respectively.

Following Sunday's action, the Wildcats go into the final two weeks of conference play with a multiple game lead atop the Pac-12 Conference standings.
