Five Wildcats Named Preseason All-Big 12

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea, kicker Tyler Loop, linebacker Jacob Manu, and defensive back Tacario Davis were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, as announced today by the conference.
 
The Wildcats earned five All-Conference selections to their first-ever preseason All-Big 12 Team. McMillan, Savaiinaea, Loop, Manu, and Davis continue to reel in preseason accolades as voted on by chosen media representatives who cover the conference.
 
Arizona garnered the second-most selections from one team in the Big 12 (1st; Oklahoma State, 6).

McMillan adds another preseason honor after being selected First-Team All-American by Phil Steele Magazine and Athlon Sports. He recorded the second-most receiving yards (1,402) and receptions (90) in program history in 2023. He also tied for the 8th-most touchdown receptions further cementing himself in Wildcats lore. This outstanding performance came on the heels of setting the program's freshman record in single-season receiving yards (702) in 2022. He enters the 2024 season with the 8th most career-receiving yards in program history (2,104) and the 8th most career-touchdown receptions (18) in Arizona football history.
 
Savaiinaea appears on the preseason All-Big 12 Team after a 2023 season that saw him earn Pac-12 Honorable Mention. He started all 13 games and finished second on the team in overall blocking grade (69.7).  Savaiinaea's work on the offensive line helped the Wildcats finish with the 8th-best passing attack in the nation last season. He was added to the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Watch List and an Outland Trophy Watch List member in August of 2023.
 
Loop adds another preseason honor as he's selected to the All-Big 12 Team after he finished All-Pac-12 Second Team Specialist following the 2023 season. He made 19-of-24 field goals (79.2%) and booted a career-long 52-yarder at Colorado, a game where he also made a game-winning 24-yard field goal as time expired. Loop made 53-of-53 extra points to move to 103-for-103 on extra points in his collegiate career. He finished third in the Pac-12 in made field goals and finished his junior season 12th all-time in career-field goal percentage (86.0%, 49-57). 
 
Davis was selected to the preseason All-Big 12 Team after leading the Pac-12 Conference with 15 pass breakups and 16 passes defended in 2023. He earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and AP Second-Team All-Pac-12 for the first time in his collegiate career following last season.
 
Manu joins the preseason All-Big 12 Team after leading the Pac-12 with 116 tackles and earned AP First-Team All-Pac-12 and All-Pac-12 First-Team honors following the 2023 season. Manu was named Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week twice during the 2023 season and was named a member of the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Watch List in August 2023. He led all linebackers and was second on the team in tackles for loss in 2023 (9.5 for -58 yards) and second on the team in sacks (6.5).

The Wildcats travel to Big 12 Media Days at Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 10. Arizona will appear on the second day of Big 12 Media Days alongside representatives from Colorado, Kansas, West Virginia, BYU, UCF, Baylor, and Houston.

Big 12 Football Media Days, Presented by Totino's will be conducted next Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9-10. Coverage from both days will be provided on ESPNU and Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

Arizona opens the 2024 season on Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. MST against New Mexico at Arizona Stadium on ESPN.
